Skin Lesions
Early detection is key when it comes to identifying skin cancer. At Launceston Skin Clinic, we use dermatoscopy, a non-invasive imaging technique, to closely examine skin lesions and distinguish between benign and malignant growths.
What Is Dermatoscopy?
Dermatoscopy uses a handheld device called a dermatoscope to magnify and illuminate the skin. This allows our specialists to see beneath the surface and detect early signs of skin cancer that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Why It Matters:
- Identify suspicious moles and lesions early.
- Differentiate between harmless and dangerous spots.
- Avoid unnecessary biopsies.
- Monitor changes over time with digital imaging.
When to Get Checked:
- New or changing moles.
- Irregular shape, color, or size.
- Itching, bleeding, or crusting spots.
- Personal or family history of skin cancer.
